In 2010, I moved from New York City to San Francisco. I didn't know many people in the city at the time, and my younger sister thought it would be fun to set up a scavenger hunt for my birthday. 

The end surprise led me to a dozen pre-ordered cupcakes waiting for me at SusieCakes in the Marina. It was in that moment that I became a loyal fan of SusieCakes. 

My love for SusieCakes continued for the next eight years while I lived in San Francisco, becoming my go-to spot for every single birthday celebration and even my first baby shower. 

In 2018, my husband and I and our growing family moved to Austin. With every birthday celebration, I was sad not to have SusieCakes. I lamented every year and searched high and low, trying all of the other spots in Austin, from cupcake trucks to Sugar Mama’s, Whole Foods, Central Market cakes, and even private bakers. 

Sadly, all of them continued to fall short. 

This story has a very happy ending because you can only imagine my enthusiasm when SusieCakes opened its first Austin location in Westlake. I saw the signs early on and spread the word far and wide. 

With every passing birthday celebration, our love for SusieCakes continues to grow and runs so deep that my kids request multiple flavors of cake for their birthdays now. 

We've been overjoyed to have SusieCakes added to the Austin area, creating so many delicious memories for our family once again.
