I’ve been a fan for years. It all started when they opened their Manhattan Beach location over 16 years ago. A coworker surprised me with my very first SusieCakes Red Velvet cupcake, and from that moment on, it quickly became my go-to cupcake spot.

Since then, SusieCakes has been part of so many of my special occasions. From international celebrations like when Prince William and Kate got married (I had to get the Royal Cupcake!) to fun seasonal moments like the Olympics chocolate cupcake, every visit felt like a little celebration. Summer solstice always meant starting the day with Susie’s ice cream sandwiches, and I can’t forget April Fool’s Day, when they had their iconic tacos.

I’ve also been lucky enough to be part of so many in-store celebrations over the years, including birthday parties like the Manhattan Beach location’s retro beach party for their 5th anniversary, which I still remember so fondly.
But if I had to narrow it down, two moments really stand out. Becoming SusieCakes Bakery’s very first Instagram friend back in the early days of Instagram was such a fun and special memory. And even more meaningful was meeting Susie Sarich with my mom at the grand opening of the Torrance location. That moment felt full circle, getting to meet the heart behind something that has brought so much joy into my life.

SusieCakes has been more than just a bakery to me. It is a place near and dear to my heart that is filled with memories, celebrations, and little moments of happiness over the years. It is a bakery that I’ll always cherish, one cupcake at a time.
