I’m sure many people submitting entries face the same difficulty I do. SusieCakes has been woven into our family stories for the past twenty years.
My father just passed away at age 87 this May, and his favorite cake was SusieCakes’ Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake. For his 80th birthday in 2018, we held a dinner at one of his favorite restaurants, and it was perfect. Exactly 80 friends and family attended this special celebration, and we capped off the meal with his favorite cake. We sang “Happy Birthday” to dad while he blew out the candles on his 6-inch round cake, while the guests were being served from the quarter-sheet cakes.
I also included two pictures of recent celebrations. My niece was born on December 25. Every Christmas, our family celebrates with cake. Lily’s favorite has swapped between Susie’s Famous Southern Red Velvet Cake and the Vanilla Celebration Cake. For her 20th birthday last December, we got to enjoy the Vanilla Celebration Cake.
Finally, my brother and his family were planning a luxury trip to Costa Rica in celebration of my sister-in-law’s birthday this April. No one anticipated that my dad’s health would take a turn for the worse and that he would be home on hospice. Family is very important to all of us, and their Costa Rica dream trip was indefinitely postponed. My sister-in-law’s 40th birthday celebration was low key in comparison, but what we did have was family, and Carrot Cake from SusieCakes.
SusieCakes has been there for so many celebrations in my life. SusieCakes was there for weekly cake and coffee dates with my bestie at the Marina del Rey location. SusieCakes has been there for a pick-me-up since my father’s passing.
